Cyclone Fina – Important Information for Those in the Darwin Region

Cyclone Fina poses a significant threat to the Darwin area. Many GBIB clients have friends, family or business interests in the Top End, so this guidance may be useful to share.

Before Severe Weather Arrives

• Secure sheds, tanks, solar panels and exposed structures.
• Move vehicles, trailers and boats under cover where possible.
• Trim loose branches away from buildings if it is safe to do so.
• Photograph your home, contents and outbuildings.
• Prepare torches, batteries, medications and essential supplies.

If Property Is Damaged

• Contact GBIB once it is safe. We already hold your policy information.
• Photograph all damage before beginning any cleanup.
• Only complete necessary temporary repairs and keep receipts.
• GBIB will work with your insurer to ensure the claim is handled fairly and correctly.
